Pavilion Gardens - September 2007
Buxton's Pavilion Gardens.
were designed in 1871 by Edward Milner and covered 23 acres. Besides
the well manicured lawns and flowerbeds, there are two lakes frequented
by a host of wild birds. These include swans, mallard and muskovy
ducks, coot and gulls. Pride of place goes to the impressive Pavilion,
consisting of the concert hall or Octogon, Paxton suite, promenade
café, coffee shop and restaurant. There is also a wonderful
conservatory containing exotic and British garden plants. The bandstand
forms part of the restoration work that continues at the present time.
