Burbage
almost stands apart from the town of Buxton, being approximately one
mile west on the A53. Once a small quiet residential area, it has seen
the gradual encroachment of modern housing as the town expands to
satisfy the needs of those moving into the area.
For those who enjoy walking, Burbage provides an access into the
Grinlow Country Park, or to the high open moor land and the Goyt Valley
to the west. The visitor will find few shops and a popular public house
that can offer some refreshment when required.
Burbage is the very first place seen when entering the town from:
Macclesfield, Congleton and Leek via roads that drop down into Buxton
after travelling across great expanses of high, bleak gritstone moor
land to the south and west.
