The Heart of a Peak District Community
Higher Buxton
|
|
Visitors who come to Buxton for the day, quite often miss one of the
oldest, and most fascinating parts of the town, Higher Buxton and the
Market Place. Apart from its varied, and exciting architecture, dating
from the 16th century to the present day, Higher Buxton offers some
really fine shopping opportunities.
The photograph shown here was taken prior to the removal and resiting
of the market cross, which is now directly outside the Town Hall.
Visit the bustling market days on Tuesdays and Saturdays, browse around
the many shops that have a range of stock, simply not found in the main
part of town. There is a host of friendly Pubs, Restaurants, Cafes and
takeaways for your refreshment.
Two moderately sized supermarkets occupy a central position, offering quality food etc, and at very good value for money.
There are shops with the latest in fashions, music, videos and DVDs,
others to buy all that's new in sound and vision technology. Setting up
home? here, you will find quality furniture and furnishings to suite
all tastes and styles. Why, here, it's even possible to buy a home, and
sell one, too. There are handmade crafts to decorate the home, all
brought in specially from around the world. Looking for a rare book?
Some flowers? Leather goods? They are all here, and much more besides.

Thinking
about a holiday, you'll find a great choice of exciting faraway places.
And for those with a head for thrills and adventure, or white knuckle
sports, all the equipment you could possibly require, is located at
Higher Buxton.
This lovely area of Buxton is only minutes away from the Pavilion
Gardens, the Opera House and other major attractions the town has to
offer. There is ample parking for the car, and buses call at the market
place from neighbouring villages and towns...even from adjacent
counties.
Welcome, and please enjoy the sights, sounds and shopping in one of the friendliest areas of Buxton.
