Day 102
Captain Persson and Cmdr Vahl greet the Dark Matter's new Counsellor: Lt
T'heexa. She soon proves to be a zealous Vulcan officer who promptly starts
to evaluate the whole crew.
Unbeknownst to her, it plays right into Persson's hands, since the DM can't
be sent to a new mission until Starfleet is sure that its crew's morale has
not suffered following its recent ordeal.
Day 103
Upon discovering that the lounge is now quite capable of operating without
her, June decides to promote Klam (npc) to the role of manager, so that she
can resume her diplomatic studies.
Meanwhile, in the brigs of Starbase Dyerma IV, Daimon Drak (npc) has the
opportunity to speak to his lawyer. As is typical for Ferengi he has to
promise a hefty sum of latinum in order to receive the kind of advice that
will see him out of trouble.
Captains Persson and Lecomte (npc) meet for one of their friendly
discussions, where they review the important events of these past five years,
and consider how unexpected certain missions can turn out to be.
- Mission Start -
Day 1
Captain Persson calls a senior staff meeting, which starts with the visual
recording of an archaeological discovery. It shows the painstaking finding of
a triangular artefact by six archaeologists. Unfortunately, their excitement
rendered them careless and they inadvertently triggered a device. This
prompted a shower of blue lightning and an unconventional sighting: that of
someone who appeared to be June Craig in a Captain's uniform. Aided by three
security men, she took the Dyermians away.
After making sure that the DM's June is not involved in any sort of foul
play, Captain Persson asks his staff to analyse the footage in order to find
the answers they need regarding what appears to be the entrance point of a
mirror universe.
Dyermian PM allows Persson's crew to perform all the tests they want on the
archaeological device, but he insists that a Dyermian team should accompany
them at every stage. The Captain has no other choice but to accept these
terms and conditions.
Tests at the portal begin in earnest, amidst wonder for what lay on the other
side. Divsi (npc), a Dyermian scientist, proposes that they use a minuscule
electronic fly to spy on the mirror universe. Despite Lt Cmdr Gol'Khar's
negative comments on the idea, Cmdr Vahl chooses to give it a go.
Gol'Khar and his team set up a forcefield between the viewers and the stones,
to prevent any unwanted intrusion once the 'fly' has been activated.
The 'fly' makes it to the other side. It reveals a gloomy scene dominated by
a large chemical factory, bathed in dark red light. Moments later a group of
rough Klingons invade the scene, and attack several Dyermian technicians
present near the factory. Just before a Klingon squashes the little bug, the
viewers have the time to see that one of these warriors looks strangely like
Gol'Khar.
In the mirror universe, Captain Craig is disappointed to learn that despite
the use of mind meld (performed by her CSO, Lt Sertak ) the six
archaeologists captured this morning delivered no information of value. When
the Bridge informs her of the sudden arrival of the Klingons, she gives
orders to fire on them.
When Persson reads the latest report, he asks that the proposed away team
goes through a holo simulation of the mirror universe. This time, he too will
take part in the exercise, since he could have a counterpart on the other
side of the portal.
After an uneventful holo session, the away team leaves for the portal. It is
equipped with a special comm device to remain in touch with the USS Dark
Matter, and possess two more 'flies'.
There is more bad news on the ISS Dark Matter, which has already been forced
to leave Dyerma III due to Klingon retaliations. Lt Sertak informs his
Captain that PO3 Vahl, from Engineering, has defected from the ship. Eager to
serve the emerging Empire, Craig wants to strike back immediately, but Sertak
convinces her to wait for more favourable circumstances.
In the mirror universe, Captain Gol'Khar manages to capture a human female
who turns out to be a member of the despicable ISS Dark Matter: PO3 Vahl.
However, she proves more useful than expected when she repairs their
translator.
Captain Craig contacts trader Trok on the chance of obtaining some
information about the Klingon ship posted at Dyerma III. When the Ferengi
insults her, Craig takes command of his ship with the help of four security
men. She views this as the ideal scheme to return incognito to the portal
site.
During his exploration of the chemical factory, Gol'Khar's team discovers
several cells crammed with Dyermian civilians.
While Vahl's team comes across a wanted note regarding her counterpart,
Captain Persson observes his double: the administrator of the factory. In
order to understand where Dyerma III stands, he promptly assumes the role of
his counterpart.
Captain Gol'Khar asks PO3 Vahl to repair the ship's replicator system in
exchange for her freedom. When she hesitates, he sets out to destroy the
nearby Ferengi vessel to show his contempt for those who doubt the word of a
Klingon.
After repairing the replicator systems on board the Klingon ship, PO3 Vahl
is confronted to an unexpected proposition: that of becoming a crewmember for
as long she wants. Concerned that the ISS Dark Matter could find her, she
accepts.
In the factory, Lt Zack carrying the unconscious Administrator meets up with
the XO's team. It turns out that this group also has its own hostages, after
rescuing Miss Ankomel from troubles.
Captain Persson, still posing as the factory's administrator discovers that
his counterpart is playing a dangerous game. He sells metal to the Klingons,
drugs to the Ferengi and allows Captain Craig to earn a share of the
factory's profits.
Meanwhile, after recovering from the Klingon near attack, Captain Craig and
two henchmen beam near the portal site. Determined to fulfil her mission,
Craig goes to the mirror universe where she manages to capture two security
guards.
In order to reach the Dyermian archaeologists, it is decided that Captain
Persson will contact the ISS Dark Matter and claim to have PO3 Vahl in
custody.
After making sure that the Dyermians held captive by the Adminstrator are
all grouped in one place, Lt Cmdr Gol'Khar and Lt(g) Tramori continue their
exploration of the factory. It isn't long before they come across rough
Klingon voices, which turn out to belong to mirror-Gol'Khar and his men.
On Dyerma III, sheltered in a little hut, Captain Craig tortures her two
security prisoners in order to retrieve the information she needs about the
USS Dark Matter. Once this is done, she returns to her universe and breaks
into the factory.
Meanwhile, in the same factory, June Craig is sent to the office of
Administrator Persson, to try to understand the relationship that he shares
with her counterpart. Unfortunately, he doesn't have much to reveal, beyond
the fact that profit is the all important thing to him.
After overpowering his counterpart, Lt Cmdr Gol'Khar beams onboard the Yo'qul
to assume command of the Klingon ship. There, PO3 Vahl realizes right away
that he isn't the same man. She accepts to help the USS Dark Matter crew to
free the Dyermian archaeologists.
Captain Persson is about to contact the ISS Dark Matter to execute the plan
proposed by Cmdr Vahl, when mirror-Sertak calls the Administrator's office to
reclaim a hefty sum of money. Judging that it would be too dangerous for the
Cmdr to portray her counterpart, he decides to go to the ISS DM by himself.
The two Vahls meet, allowing them to have better grasp of the universes where
they evolve.
Mirror-Gol'Khar asks some of his men to start a fight, in order to create a
diversion. When the guards approach to stop them, he manages to get out of
his cell and take control of the security officers. Now free, he and his men
go about exploring the factory.
Mirror-Craig, Munro and Zack nearly stumble upon the Klingons, but manage to
avoid them at the last moment. On one of the upper floors, they cross the
path of June Craig and Mike Munro and promptly attack them. They then send
them to the Ferengi Marauder, where they join the cell where Trok is being
kept.
On board the ISS Dark Matter, Captain Persson leaves the quarters he has been
assigned to explore the ship. He uses the Jeffries tube to make his way to
Engineering. There, he accesses the main computer, but the red alarm suddenly
sounds...
Cmdr Vahl soon discovers that Craig and Munro are missing. She takes Lt
Sertak with her and sets out to find them.
Finding it alarming that the factory is so empty, Captain Craig and Ensign
Munro push to the office of Administrator Persson. To their dismay, they
can't find anything of interest in his files, and are interrupted by someone
at the door. It turns out to be Captain Gol'Khar and his men. The encounter
develops into a phaser fight where the two Captains get injured. However,
they manage to agree on a truce, until they catch the Administrator.
On the Ferengi ship, June convinces mirror-Trok to use the chemicals stored
in their cell to trap their captors. Believing that he is confronted to
Captain Craig, Trok is very reluctant to accept, but the promise of getting
his ship back helps him to change his mind.
On the Klingon ship, after being alerted by the Chief Ops that the Ferengi
vessel had crossed, once again, their path, Lt Cmdr Gol'Khar decides to board
the ship in order to see what the Ferengi are playing at.
Unfortunately, no sooner is June free that the Marauder is boarded by a group
of Klingons. June hopes again to count on Trok's help, but he betrays her and
allow the intruders to capture her. During the interrogation that follows,
June realises that the Klingon Captain is no other than Lt Cmdr Gol'Khar. He
then explains to her the on going plan devised by Captain Persson and send
her to the ISS Dark Matter.
On the ISS Dark Matter, the red alert turns out to be set off malfunction in
the secondary temperature controller, allowing Captain Persson to move
forward towards the shuttlebay. There, he prepare a shuttlebay to be piloted
at distance. When he finally returns to his quarters through the bathroom, he
finds Mirror-Sertak waiting for him in the living area. Lars gets away by
pretending he that had fallen asleep in the shower room.
Now that he is no longer pestered by Captain Craig, mirror-Gol'Khar suspects
her more and more of being responsible for what is happening in the
factory.
While exploring the deserted corridors of the factory, Cmdr Vahl and Lt
Sertak have the surprise to come across a cleaner. When the man reflects the
general dislike for Captain Craig, they enlist his help and ask him to give
them the most slippery detergent available. Moment later, the trio spread a
strategic corridor with the product.
It takes more than one hour before Captain Craig finally pays a visit to that
corridor, making it possible for Cmdr Vahl to arrest her. However, when
Claryx questions the CO, she proves totally uncooperative.
On the ISS Dark Matter, June assumes her role as best as she can, making
urgent requests on the Bridge. When she sees that the ship is in hot pursuit
of a shuttle, she realizes that Persson's plan has been successful and orders
its destruction. She then insists on seeing the archaeologists, something
that prompts Lt Sertak to attack her and assume command of the DM. She wakes
up in the CO's office where Sertak performs a mind-meld on her. When he
understand that she is not Captain Craig, he accepts to release her, along
with the Dyermian captives.
In the Factory, Captain Persson and Cmdr Vahl are briefing each other on
their latest progress when they are interrupted by the sudden materialisation
of June Craig, accompanied by the missing archaeologists.
On the Klingon vessel, Lt Cmdr Gol'Khar follows the movements of "his" crew,
along with those of June and the ISS Dark Matter. When it is confirmed that
Captain Craig is in their custody, he too returns to the factory. There,
plans are made to deal with the Klingon group that still roams inside the
factory. Thankfully, their impatience reaches a peak and they give up their
pursuit of Administrator Persson to beam back to their vessel.
With the factory now in safe hands, the Dyermian government is contacted.
Miss Ankomel turns out to be the PM in this universe. Meetings are arranged
to see what can be done to protect the portal, and on how the prisoners will
be treated.
Day 2
Back on the USS Dark Matter, Cmdr Vahl and Captain Persson ponder on the
mirror universe and its potential for a peaceful future. On his side, Lt Cmdr
Gol'Khar spends some time considering with a certain envy the life-style of
his counterpart. Meanwhile, an overworked Lt MacDuff has a nightmare where
his CsciO has been replaced by Captain Gol'Khar.
In the mirror universe, now that his ship is free of invaders, Trok catches
up with his situation. When he realises that both Craig and Persson have been
captured, he plots a course as far away from Dyermian III as he can, for fear
that the hewmons will speak against him.
- Mission End -
- Shore Leave -
Day 2
June's shore leave on Dyerma III is interrupted by Trok, who insists that she
speaks with a Ferengi named Qero, whom he has fallen in love with. He happens
to be a man, but Trok is adamant that he must be a woman in disguise.
Once he has made his report to Admiral Davison, Captain Persson decides to
pay a visit to Hulanda Ankomel. True to her spirit, she invites him to spend
the rest of the day with her. This time Lars accepts to keep her company.
Day 3
At her request, PO3 Vahl has been allowed to spend a couple of days, in what
is for her the mirror universe. Now that this is time for her to return to
her world, Cmdr Vahl bids her farewell. While doing so, she learns that her
counterpart has been offered a job in the factory, to assess the damage
suffered at the hands of its former administrator.
Lt MacDuff is knocked over in the main transporter room, inducing a dream
where he experiences a perfect date with Maria Chivez.
The meeting with Qero comes by sooner than June had expected, but she can
make nothing of the dialogue with the young Ferengi.
Captain Persson spends a relaxing evening with Miss Ankomel, where he is
reminded that the Dyermian women are reputed for their overt approach to
seduction.
Finding that the lounge has lost most of its appeal since June's departure,
Pete Smith manages to convince Klam that what they need is a different
holowaiter. One that belongs to the female gender.
Day 4
Claryx Vahl and Gol'Khar decide to spend their shore leave in the Dyermian
wilderness, in an area barely touched by civilization. Everything goes well,
until they notice what appears to be a secret facility carefully hidden
within a deep valley.
As is the norm with Captain Persson, he finds it very difficult to leave his
ship during shore leave. So he takes advantage of the fact that most of the
crew is on Dyermia to explore the USS Dark Matter, going to places that he
seldom has the opportunity to visit otherwise.
As he is doing so, he feels irresistibly compelled to go to the Science
Department and the area where the MR'Tlag probe has been stored. There, the
probe comes to life and speaks of a terrible danger lurks ahead of them. Due
to this, it will be forced to take a long journey in order to help the Dark
Matter in its hour of need.
Alarmed by his recent conversation with the probe, and the possibility that
it could be linked to the mechanoids life-forms that the DM once met, Persson
contacts Admiral Davison to inform him of the situation.
The day starts with a thrill for June, as Ambassador Battersby calls to give
her official accreditations as a diplomat. It is however followed by a shock
when she discovers that her brother, Kent, has travelled on a civilian ship
as a stowaway; this all the way from Mars. Once a DNA test has confirmed that
the boy is truly who he claims to be, June takes him to Dyermia IV. After an
unfortunate encounter with Trok, Kent accepts to help the Ferengi to find
more about Qero.
Captain
Persson is called to the starbase for meeting with Captain Lecomte. There, he
has the surprise to see the Garann sisters, who for once are there on
official matters. A Klingon science vessel has been destroyed by mysterious
aliens who could very well represent a menace for the whole sector. The two
Captains watch a recording of the fatal attack.
June goes to the Dark Matter to issue Kent with a Commbadge. When she learns
from Lt Sertak that the lounge seems to have adopted a new holo waitress who
possesses all the attributes more suited to work on Risa, she rushes to Deck
3 to have a word with Klam. However it turns out that it was nothing but a
trick from Pete Smith to be able to see her.
Vahl and Gol'Khar go through the holo-screen they have discovered. It turns
out to be the property of a xenophobic politician who seems prepared to kill
the intruders, specially when they happen to belong to the Federation.
Thankfully for the two officers, they are rescued by the Garann sisters,
whose crew, it appears, had been spying on them.
Once the incident has been reported to the authorities, Claryx feels unable
to pursue their shore leave in the Dyermian countryside and resolves to take
Gol'Khar to the Starbase.
Equipped with new clothing, a commbadge and a fresh haircut, Kent joins Trok
on the Starbase, to help him out as promised. Unfortunately for the Ferengi,
it all turns pearshaped when Qero makes the sudden decision to leave Dyerma
IV.
