Stardate 238201.29
Lt Gol’Khar takes advantage of his free time to run a
thorough check on his department, but soon experiences a bout of anger
when he discovers that things aren’t up to his standards.
Ensign Percival Bellophoron III makes his remarked arrival at the
Outpost. His uncanny manners first unsettle security ensign Yraxys
(npc) and then Yeoman Joshua Smith (npc).
Lt Trewyn makes a quieter arrival with her Siamese cat Ming, and is
surprised to learn from Captain Samrai (npc) that instead of joining
the DM an as Assistant Counsellor, she is to become their Head
Counsellor. This is due to Lt Sulvik’s imminent departure for Vulcan,
after an urgent request form the High Council.
Returning to the Outpost, teacher Tahlandi Jiasha meets with Captain
Samrai and her new XO and discovers that things have now quietened down
at DSO 316.
Stardate 238201.30
On the Dark Matter, after a discussion with Dr N’we,
Patrick Mulcahey (npc) comes to his senses and chooses to be
transferred to San Fransisco to attend special training at the Academy.
Stardate 238201.31
June Craig accompanies Nick Downey (npc) to the Outposts and meets with Klam (npc) her new Bolian bartender.
As a form of silent protest against the fact that Lt Orthis (npc) has
to be transferred from the Dark Matter, Lt Robert Hadley and his men
escort him in full dress uniform in a mock ceremony out onto the
Outpost. Once this task is completed, Hadley meet with Counsellor
Sulvik (npc) one last time.
Meanwhile, in order to forget the strain that Dr Marel (npc) put on
her, Lt Vaelx insists in remaining in Engineering to perform various
repairs and system checks.
Around 19.00, Lt Hadley finally meets with his god-daughter Ashley
(npc). He can’t help being a bit clumsy with her, but manages to get
her approval when he proposes that they stop somewhere to eat
something. Unfortunately the place he chose seems to be too crowded for
Ashley’s taste and an encounter with Counsellor Trewyn doesn’t help.
They go to another bar and this time meet with Lt Sam Vaelx, (her
symbiont has virtually forced her to take advantage of this shore
leave.) The trio shares a table and after much flirting between the two
officers, Sam and Ashley decide to go shopping the very next morning.
Onboard the Dark Matter, after reporting to Lt Cmdr Vahl, Ensign
Bellophoron reports to his direct superior, Lt Gol’Khar, an interview
that leads to a few misunderstandings due to Bellophoron’s poor attempt
at speaking Klingon.
While she is making some extensive purchases in a Ferengi shop, Lt
Trewyn meets with Adrian Moore, a friend from the Academy, who used to
call her ‘Deadly’ on account of her conspicuous lack of accuracy in
target practice.
This same shop also sees the reunion of two friends: Dr N’we and
teacher Tahlandi Jiasha. But the CMO is not so sure she is ready for a
regular relationship with a crewmember.
Captain Persson can also be found on the Outpost. While shopping for a
gift he wants to offer to Captain Samrai (npc), he find the most
mesmerising perfume and cannot resist buying it. However, moments
later, while stopping at a restaurant for a cup of coffee, he starts
experiencing strange hallucinations.
With no other choice than to dine alone, Lt Trewyn orders the dish of
the day, not realizing that it is in fact a meal for four called a
Centaurian Geldt Banquet.
While Tahlandi Jiasha and Dr N’we mark their reunion with a special
evening, Captain Persson continues to experience strange phenomena that
ultimately send him to sickbay.
When he regains consciousness, he discovers that the Outpost had had a
few other inexplicable events as the one he described. But when he goes
back to the Emporium shop, he cannot find the woman who sold him the
perfume he bought.
During his quest to find an antiquated type of computer interface, Ensign Bellophoron meets with Lt jg Angus Macduff.
That same evening, June Craig finally resolves to call her father, to
discover that once again he had nothing better to do than to play silly
tricks on her.
Stardate 238202.01
Lt Trewyn, calls Lt Vaelx for a first interview
regarding Dr Marel’s request. Although Sam is constantly on her guards,
she soon realizes that the new Counsellor as no intention to give in to
Dr Marel's unreasonable demands. Even so, a weekly programme of
evaluation is set for the CEO.
After reporting to Lt Cmdr Vahl, Counsellor Trewyn goes to sickbay, and
discovers that her past bears some resemblance with that of Dr N’we.
Vahl and Gol’Khar start their shore leave with a holo sport adventure
which turns into a disaster because of a technical malfunction.
Lt Jim Corbett, the DM’s new Chief of Operations officer, returns from
reporting to the Captain and becomes familiar with his new position. He
later meets with some of his staff, PO2 Morag (npc) and Ensign Santos,
who seem to think that their office is an extension to the Lounge.
Early in the morning, Lt Vaelx and Ashley go, as promised, on their shopping trip to the Outpost.
Dr N’we meets with Lt Hadley in the Lounge and talk of Ashley, a
discussion that leads the Doctor to consider her relationship with
Tahlandi Jiasha and how it reminds her of a certain painful event from
her past.
Meanwhile, Tahlandi Jiasha and Ashley get the opportunity to meet in a school room and learn a few things about each other.
Wanting to experience what it means to be on shore leave, Dr Herewards
and Abe (the ship’s hologram), run a simulation of the Outpost on the
holodeck.
Lt Cmdr Var (npc), Outpost's XO, summons the security department to
give strict orders on how, due to recent events, 316 needs their utmost
attention.
Later on that same afternoon, Trok (npc) who has apparently come across
some vital information about what is going on at the Outpost, speaks to
June Craig, stressing how important it is that he speaks to a ranked
officer.
Unbeknownst to them, their conversation is closely monitored by
security ensign Yraxys (npc), who quickly reports her findings to her
chief.
On board the Dark Matter, Captain Persson contacts the few officers who
have been promoted at the end of the mission, and receives a call form
Craig about her recent encounter with Trok.
In her quarters Dr N’we recalls the events that led to the death of Dr Lace Stern (npc), a former lover.
With the help of Gol’Khar and Vahl, the Outpost manages to get hold of
an elusive Trok, who had tried to run away from a security officer.
Dr N’we meets with Captain Persson to receive her promotion and takes
advantage of this short interview to propose that the EMH (npc) moves
up the ACMO position, an idea that is accepted.
In the meantime Counsellor Trewyn meets with PO2 Morag McGrath (npc)
who has been charged to see to the changes in furnishing in the
counselling suite. While working, McGrath, who is very fond of gossip
gives Abby a quick tour of the DM’s key crewmembers.
About half an hour after bringing the good news to Dr Hereward, N’we
goes to the Outpost to participate to the Bajoran Gratitude Festival
with her friend Jiasha. There the two women are victim of a peculiar
spiritual experience where it is revealed that they are destined to be
together and subsequently ends in being unified by the bonds of
marriage.
Back on the Outpost, Captains Persson finally meets with Trok (npc),
who makes vague revelations about a space object that is supposedly
approaching 316.
While reviewing the performance of the instruments in the Space Imaging
Library, Ensign Bellophoron discovers that it could perform 43% better
with the implementation of an extrapolator. He promptly sends a request
to Vahl and Gol’Khar to obtain one. Right after this, he goes to
sickbay to undergo his physical, where his recent hand injury is
questioned.
Lts Hadley and Vaelx embark on a new romantic evening on the Outpost, which ends up dancing in a small jazz club.
Stardate 238202.02
After recuperating from her adventure, Jiasha decides
to celebrate her marriage by putting a party together with the help of
June Craig. Jamaica, on her side, is busy in sickbay and is introduced
to a new staff member: Dr Dubois (npc), the ships’ dentist.
Gol’Khar grants Bellophoron’s request and meanwhile sets out to
investigate what could have happened to Captain Persson while he was on
the Outpost. An awkward request to receive information from sickbay
receives a sharp rejection from Dr N’we.
Claryx Vahl pays a visit to Bellophoron and asks him to make full usage
of his newly gained extrapolator to do a thorough survey of this sector
in space. She hopes that his knack for detail will allow him to notice
something that might have evaded everyone.
With all the things that had recently happened to her, Dr N’we goes to see the Counsellor.
The Outpost discovers that a computer malfunction has created havoc
between science and medical files, leading them to be directed to the
wrong departments. Lt Cmdr Var (npc), promptly informs the Dark Matter
of the situation, and she is then confronted to yet another problem:
Vedek Havaris seems to confirm Trok’s words about impending danger
making its way to 316.
Stardate 238202.03
In the middle of the night,
Bellophoron insists on speaking with Vahl to inform her of the
surprising discovery he has made while reviewing the extrapolator’s
findings of this sector.
The unusual events leads Captain Persson to call for a senior staff
meeting where Captain Samrai (npc) is present. The recent discoveries
from science are highlighted and Samrai announces that she is
installing martial law on her station.
At the same time, Tahlandi Jiasha gives her first lesson to her new students.
Counsellor Trewyn reviews which crewmembers she still needs to see, and
then reports to Captain Persson. During this short interview she
manages to have the psych records of certain senior officers unlocked,
plus the right to have informal meetings with them.
In order to try and pierce the mystery of the two approaching ships,
Ensign Bellophoron asks for his team's help to convert one of the
lateral sensor arrays to be as close to Siliconoid technology as
possible
June Craig discovers that a night of indulging in too many drinks has
cost her some pride, since Klam (npc) had had to carry her to her
quarters.
At the section of space where Ensign Bellophoron has located the
presence of a mysterious ship, two aliens discuss their mission and
their contact on Outpost 316, who hide herself under the identity of an
ensign called Velisa (npc). They appear to be escorting a shipment of
dormant passengers.
Back at the Outpost, Dr Frick (npc) and Dr N’we discover that some of
the tests performed on Captain Persson seemed to have vanished, so is
the whereabouts of nurse Velisa, who was on duty during Persson’s short
stay in Frick’s sickbay.
By cross-checking Bellophoron’s findings, Lt Gol’Khar notices that there are in fact two ships in section 25-15-89.
Stardate 238202.04
The population on the Outpost protest against the
CO’s measures, forcing her to ship the troublemakers off her station,
after the customary ID checks. No sooner has she uttered this order,
than Ensign Yraxys (npc) informs her that Vedek Havaris (npc) has been
severely beaten.
He is transferred to the care of Dr N’we, who discovers that Tahlandi
Jiasha is the only person in the area with the same blood type as the
Bajoran priest.
In section 25-15-89, Xul, fearing that his partner will eliminate him
once their dark transaction is over, sends a message to the outpost,
revealing their arrival time.
Lt jg Lomax discovers what she thinks are encrypted messages coming
section 25-15-89. While science tries to decode them, the Outpost
receives a clear numerical message from this area of space, that simply
states: 238202.05:2337
In an attempt to ease the situation, the Dark Matter and Outpost 316
allow their security and science departments to work closely together.
Velisa becomes bold, wanting to adopt June Craig’s appearance to get
rid of Trok, but Gmei, her partner in crime, forces her to change her
plans.
June Craig volunteers to speak to the rebellious civilians on the
Outpost, but it turns pear-shaped when, after seeing a strange alien
glaring at her, someone throws an aluminium can which hits her in the
face. She is promptly escorted back to the DM by ensign Reese (npc). En
route they meet with Trok, who stresses once again how much he would
like to work again on the DM.
After being saved by Doctor N’we and her team, Vedek Havaris
recuperates slowly in sickbay.
The CMO then takes a break, which is short lived as she discovers that
most casualties from the Outpost insist on being treated on the Dark
Matter, rather than at Dr Frick’s (npc) surgery.
Lt Cmdr Hadley intervenes on the Outpost to calm the crowd that injured
Craig. He asks Klam (npc) to brings them hot drinks and food, which
seems to do the trick.
Lt Vaelx finishes her work on the M’Rtlag sentinel and decides to beam
to the Outpost, where she is immediately intercepted by a group of
armed rebels. Thankfully for her, Hadley and Reese happened to be close
by. But even with their help, it takes her all her resources to
over-power the group of criminals.
Counsellor Trewyn pays a visit to the Outpost and is accosted by a
Bajoran woman with a young boy in tow. After enquiring as to what all
this drink distribution is all about, she walks away surreptitiously,
leaving the boy in the Counsellor’s care.
While Dr N’we tries to deal with the influx of patients, Jiasha
organizes a party in the Arboretum for the DM’s civilians, so as to
avoid any uprising from these too.
After a meeting with their DM counterparts, Captain Samrai (npc) and Lt
Cmdr Var (npc) decide to lift the Martial Law and to organize a banquet
to soothe their angry civilians. (An idea which had in fact been
suggested to Var by Dr N’we).
On the Outpost, having had enough of Gmei’s cowardice, Velisa slashes
him with the scalpel she has used on many a civilian before. She is
caught in the act by Trok and quickly adopts Craig’s features to cover
herself. The Ferengi runs away in terror and stumbles on Lt Cmdr Hadley
and Ensign Reese. He reports what he has just seen, which prompts
Hadley to check the presence of Craig onboard the DM. Lt Corbett sees
to it and makes sure that no one gets on board if the manifest shows
they're already on board. Hadley later finds the unconscious figure of
a tall alien in a storage room, and quickly transfers him to the DM’s
sickbay.
With the assistance of Piper, Bodecki and
Hereward (npcs), Dr N’we deals right away with her new charge. Since
she is totally unfamiliar with this type of alien, she asks Dr Dubois
to provide her with the appropriate gas to anesthetize this new
patient. Dubois’ laid back attitude angers Dr N’we and she asks him to
leave sickbay.
With the help of Lt Pulchek (npc) from the Outpost, Lt Gol’Khar and
Ensign Bellophoron discover that a wormhole could be about to open in
the vicinity. If it so, it is likely that it will be triggered by the
two approaching ships.
After speaking to Lt Winchester (npc), Counsellor Trewyn resolves, for
the time being, to bring the young boy (Taren Menno(npc)) to the Dark
Matter.
Vedek Havaris wakes up and manages to have a conversation with Gmei
(npc). He insists on speaking with Captain Persson and reveals that
Gmei was in the process of acquiring a Bajoran Orb. It is vital that
the Bajorans retrieve it and Persson accepts to help in any way he can,
taking the present crisis into account.
Later in the evening, Havaris gives Talhandi Jiasha a disc that first
belonged to Gmei. This disc is said to be a beacon for the person now
in possession of the Orb of Destiny.
Meanwhile in section 25-15-89, after an argument with his colleague
Jzel (npc), Xul for fear of loosing the precious ‘gem’ that he carries
with him, manages to get the upper hand, whereupon Jzel has no other
choice than escape using a life-pod, which is promptly ejected into
space by Xul. The alien then disengages his little ship from the much
larger cargo vessel (transporting dormant soldiers and slaves) and
makes his way toward the Earther Station.
No sooner has Jzel initiated his distress signal, that it triggers a
process that starts to awaken the dormant cargo in the large vessel.
This in turn prompts the ship’s computer to abandon its own sleep mode
in order to put a stop to the early awakening.
On the Outpost, Velisa impersonates security ensign Yraxys, quickly
abandoning this shape for the one of Dr DuBois (npc), which allows her
to venture onto the DM and eventually the sickbay unnoticed, at least
until ‘he’ is accosted by the EMH.
Right after his meeting with Vedek Havaris, Captain Persson sets a course to section 25-15-89.
At precisely 23.59, a Trojan Horse slowly takes control of the DM’s computer systems.
Stardate 238202.05
While the DM’s system begins experiencing minor
failures, Lt Cmdr Hadley and Dr N’we are called to sickbay to resolve
the situation connected to the fake Dr DuBois; something that is made
easier when Velisa/DuBois attacks the ACMO without realizing he is an
EMH.
In section 25-15-89, Xul realizes with concern that the beacon signal
he is heading towards had become rather erratic, and worse, that there
is a bomb in the engine core of his ship.
Sam’s symbiont convinces her that the injuries she has sustained at the
Outpost needs to be treated. Once in sickbay the CEO insists on being
seen by Dr N’we, who is forced, once again, to leave her quarters in
the middle of the night. While treating Sam for her various injuries,
it becomes obvious that the sickbay computer is painfully slow.
In section 25-15-89 Xul resolves to abandon his ship for a life-pod, on
which he adapts his cloaking device. He then sends his ship and its
bomb back to Jzel’s location.
On the Outpost, after learning about Pulchek’s recent discovery
regarding a potential worm hole, Captain Samrai decides to evacuate her
station.
The artificial intelligence on the large transport ship makes the
decision to drag the occupied life-pod it has located in its trail, in
a bid to replace the biological entity that has ceased to live. Later
on, when its sensor detects the approach of a ship carrying a bomb, the
A.I. promptly changes its course to avoid any risk of explosion, since
it’s not equipped with aggressive weaponry.
With environmental support systems on the blink, Tahlandi Jiasha
advises the civilians that are on the DM, to shelter in the Arboretum.
The Dark Matter crew begins to realize that their ship is victim of a
growing power drain that affects virtually all their systems to various
degrees.
While having a casual chat with Klam in the Arboretum, June Craig scares Trok (npc) away by merely looking at him.
Sokolov (npc) from Security, seals up their shape-shifter prisoner in
the brig, so that she cannot take advantage of the ship’s problems, in
order to escape.
After being almost locked in his quarters because his door refuses to
open, Lt Cmdr Hadley heads for deck 7 to check if the Engineers are all
right.
Tahlandi Jiasha feels trapped in the Arboretum, as it reminds her of
her past in the Bajoran Resistance. She approaches Security Ensign
Reese (npc), with the idea that the Klingon ship (which is accompanying
them) might be able to rescue them from their predicament.
By 03.00am, Science, Engineering and Ops coordinates their efforts,
(with the help of couriers and old fashioned electronic messages to
communicate) to resolve the erratic power drain. However in the main
science lab, the sensors manage to pick out faint information about the
large ship that they had been monitoring. It is no longer cloaked and
seems to have changed its original course.
Engineering and Ops spend hours trying to locate the source of the power drain.
When the deflector shield begins to power down, Captain Persson orders the pilot to bring the ship to a standstill.
Finally realizing the that Dark Matter is in serious trouble, the
Captain of the Klingon scout vessel, the Kor, decides to invite himself
to board the DM. After a quick discussion with Persson, Val'Lock (npc)
accepts to send Klingon communicators and asks his ship to perform a
thorough scan of the DM, in a attempt to locate the device that is
causing the increasing power drain.
Moments later, the Red Alert klaxons sound throughout the ship. It
seems that the Klingon scan has located something suspicious in the
Counsellor’s quarters, but it has also triggered a violent response
from this device.
Sickbay is directly affected by the new power drain. The bay looses its
emergency power, which affects Gmei health so badly that he goes to
respiratory arrest.
Meanwhile from the safety of a rescue ship, Lt jg Pulchek (npc)
witnesses a transdimensional temporal fissure spreading out on the 14th
deck of Outpost 316.
In Sickbay, after the distribution of Klingon communicators, Lt Berg
(npc) and Dr N’we experience difficulties in operating the device,
which uses a language that is foreign to them.
Lt Gol’Khar beams directly into Counsellor Trewyn’s quarters. Woken up
moments before by Menno (npc), the Counsellor was trying, without much
success, to open the doors of their quarters. Gol’Khar locates the
alien device hidden inside a child’s toy, and asks the Klingons to beam
it away from the Dark Matter. Once the item has been destroyed, the
ship’s systems gradually resume their optimal functions.
Still in his life-pod, Xul (npc) makes a first attempt at trying to
contact Gmei (npc) by sending a rudimentary SOS signal to him.
Jiasha speaks to Jamaica of her lack of fulfilment as a simple teacher on board the DM.
As soon as the DM is warp capable again, Captain Persson orders their
pilot to alter their course to intercept the large unknown alien ship.
The Klingon Scout ship remains with them, albeit under cloak.
With the systems gradually working again, an exhausted Lt Gol’Khar
performs various tests on the DM’s sensors. Angus MacDuff, who has been
able to rest a bit, arrives just in time to offer some assistance to
his chief.
While she is in cartography with Ensign Bellophoron, Claryx Vahl
experiences a sudden surge of dramatic thoughts emanating from the
large alien ship. Because she is unable to block them, Vahl rushes to
sickbay, where Dr N’we proposes to treat her with trellium.
As soon as she feels better Vahl insists on interrogating Vedek Havaris
and Gmei, but it doesn’t turn out too well, the XO leaving sickbay in a
fluster. The only piece of information she has managed to obtain is
that Gmei comes from a far advanced civilization, and he refuses to
give details of his origins or purposes.
Xul renews his attempt to get in touch with Gmei and is eventually
heard. Considering the importance of the Orb of Destiny, Captain
Persson accepts Xul’s conditions and agrees that the transaction to
retrieve the Orb will be done in the ICU, through use of the
transporters.
The artificial intelligence that controls the large alien ship finally
realizes that its memory has been altered. It was not, originally,
designed to transport Mercs, but they are nonetheless present onboard
its ship. When it discovers that Velisa is onboard the unsophisticated
ship called the Dark Matter, it contacts Captain Persson and asks to
speak to Velisa.
Meanwhile on Outpost 316, now that the phenomenon that had occurred on
deck 14 has vanished, Captain Samrai allows her crew and civilians to
return to the Station.
Security officer Sertak (npc) monitors the exchange of devices in the
ICU. It goes according to plan, but he calls the EMH when Dr N’we and
Jiasha Talhandi take possession the Orb and seem to be affected by it.
However, moments later Jamaica assures her ACMO that Jiasha and her are
perfectly all right.
Once Vedek Havaris has given his sincere thanks to everyone concerned,
Gmei activates his disc, which instantly transports the two men and the
Orb to a location on Bajor.
Lt Cmdr Hadley is having a rough time interrogating
Velisa, since she keeps insulting him while assuming his physical
identity. But at least he has the satisfaction of telling her that her
plan to hijack the Bajoran Orb has failed.
Unsure what to do, the artificial
intelligence in charge of the large transport ship decides to wake one
of its passengers. After a long discussion, they decide to beam Velisa
onboard their ship and place her into a cryo-case. In their view it is
the best way to render the shape-shifter harmless. Once this is done,
the A.I. immediately leaves the sector, without giving any explanation
to the Dark Matter.
With matters resolved, the Dark Matter returns to the Outpost. En
route, Captain Persson discovers that his next assignment is to pick up
supplies along with a few dignitaries, and take them to sector 15 where
a new starbase is being set up. He also learns that a JAG officer is
being sent to the DM to investigate the peculiar events that have
occurred on the Dark Matter during the past few days.
Lt Gol’Khar bids farewell to the Captain of the Klingon ship. As often
with Klingons this is a meeting where bloodwine and memories flow
freely.
After discovering that Trok (npc) has been added to the lounge’s staff,
June Craig pays a visit to Lt Cmdr Vahl with a view to forcing the
Ferengi out of her lounge, but the XO refuses to gratify her plea.
At the Outpost Doctor N’we is severely injured after she prevents a
reckless child from making a fatal fall from the ring of a walkway.
Immediately on alert, Dr Hereward does his best to repair the damage on
Jamaica’s back. However, even his perfect precision cannot save the
situation and he has to inform Jiasha that Doctor N’we might well not
walk again.
So that Jamaica N’we receives the best care available within the
Federation, the Dark Matter makes arrangements for the quickest route
possible to transfer her to the Sol System.
Captain Lars Persson spends the evening with Captain Lynn Samrai. It is
marred with a certain sadness, since due to his new assignment Lars
isn’t likely to be able to return to DSO 316 for some time. Before the
two Captains share their last meal together, Persson makes a detour to
his XO’s office to announce her that she has been promoted to the rank
of Commander.
