ON : A Fruitful Journey

Day: 01
Time: 14.50 Scene: DM Captain's Ready Room

Lars was in one of his usual contemplative moods as he sat relaxed in his comfortable chair, while at the same time staring blankly at the screen of his computer. The mission was thankfully over, and as luck would have it, Admiral Davison(npc) had not yet decided to contact him, although there was no doubt in his mind that he would before too long. Cmdr Vahl had been quite insistent that he take some shore leave, and of course, he knew very well that she had been right to say so.

Unfortunately, they were now at a new Starbase, which meant that he couldn't very well go down to Dyerma III, but only because he was still unaware of the situation regarding his being able to remain in contact should he be needed. Excuses, excuses, that's what Lars began thinking to himself. He was entitled to take a break from the rigours of running a ship, so then, why shouldn't he go down to the planet, after all, they would surely find a way to get in touch if he was needed?

It was while considering this tempting option, that Lars was interrupted by the familiar sound of the comm-link on his computer calling him. Davison? He considered thoughtfully for a moment. In all honesty, he truly hoped that it wouldn't be him, not that he didn't appreciate speaking to the man. Reaching out with his right hand, he touched the corner of the screen to open the link. The person whose image he saw sitting there, surprised him somewhat. It turned out to be none other than the Prime Minister of Dyerma III himself, Gineryll Hacuman(npc). Lars sat up by instinct in an attempt at giving the appearance of being a Starfleet Captain.

"Prime Minister Hacuman, it seems such a long time since we first met. I trust that you are keeping well, Minister?" Lars enquired after being surprised by the call.

"Captain Persson. It is good to see you again, and thank you, I am very well at this time. What about yourself?" Gineryll enquired politely.

"I am very well, thank you. Tell me, to what do I owe this unexpected pleasure of hearing from you?" Lars asked the Dyermian PM with a relaxing smile.

"I thought that we could get together for a few hours?" Gineryll suggested. "Perhaps I could show you the hospitality of my planet, if you are agreeable that is?" He put to Lars, and returning a genuinely warm smile.

Lars responded straight away, although he did have something to say about protocol. "I wouldn't want to break any relationship that has been built up between yourself and Ambassador Braket(npc), Minister?"

"Nonesense! The Ambassador is a, how would you say, stuffed shirt, I believe that is the Terran term?" Gineryll replied with a grin. "And in any case, it is I who is inviting you, not the Ambassador." He said as he began to laugh. "He will have his day, but for the time being, the day, or what is left of it, is mine, and I would appreciate spending some of it in your company. I do hope that you will agree to come down, Captain?" He asked in a way that Lars could scarcely turn down.

"It will be a pleasure, Minister." Lars replied eagerly. "Where would you like me to meet you?"

"That is easy to arrange. Go onto the Starbase and make your way to the ministerial shuttlebay. You are expected. From there, you will be brought to my private apartments. I think that you will find its location is suitably relaxing, especially as I believe that you are on shoreleave, Captain?" Gineryll enquired cheerfully. "The overall journey will take less than twenty minutes. So, until we meet..."

"Until we meet then." Lars replied, and with a nod, he touched the screen and the image of Gineryll was gone. He sat back in his chair again and considered this unexpected offer. After a few seconds, he rose out of his chair and decided that it was time to go and meet the PM. If he was to cement his relations with him, it was probably a very good idea to see him alone. He never did have a liking for the Ambassador anyway, nor did he like the idea of having him hover over his shoulder in the PM's presence. With this thought cheering him up no end, he strode off to make his way onto the Starbase, and eventually the shuttlebay and Dyerma III.

Time: 15.15 Scene: Starbase Dyerma IV. Ministerial Shuttlebay

Lars entered the well-guarded shuttlebay with ease, whereupon he was courteously greeted by a young and fairly attractive woman, one who was smartly dressed in what Lars supposed was an official Dyermian government uniform.

Extending her right arm, she held her hand out to Lars. "Welcome to Dyermian soil, Captain Persson. I am Hulanda(npc), your guide for the journey to meet with our PM. Won't you come aboard our shuttle and take a seat?" She said in almost seductive tones with a beaming smile.

"Thank you, Hulanda." Lars said briefly as he made his way onto the large and spacious shuttle-craft, with her walking just ahead of him. Following his guide, they both entered the bridge and took up their seats at the rear of the deck. "This is quite an impressive craft you have here." Lars commented.

"I am pleased that you like it. It's the largest of it type and reserved solely for governmental duties." Hulanda replied with a smile, sitting there in her seat and looking at the Captain with more than just casual interest.

Soon, the shuttle's pilot, having gained clearance to depart, brought the engines online and eased the craft out through the hangar doors and into space, where it quickly turned to face Dyerma III way below them. The planet's strange greenish glow looked odd to Lars, since it gave it an almost sickly appearance. Lars settled back in his seat and took advantage of the view as they swiftly descended until they reached the lowermost cloud level. Now, it became much easier for Lars to see the surface of the planet, where he could make out the unusual silvery tones of the vegetation spread across vast continents, land masses that were divided by great oceans and a myriad islands of varying shapes and sizes.

Before he had had the opportunity to take it all in, the shuttle almost glided as it moved to take up its landing position on one of the larger islands. Looking at the landing site, Lars noticed an impressive building just off to their right. Hulanda noticed where he was looking, and promptly explained that this building was to be their destination.

"Those are the appartments of our PM, where you will soon have the opportunity of meeting him again." She told him.

"I look forward to it." Lars replied as he continued to smile. "Your planet seems most impressive." He commented as he suddenly became aware that she was staring at him.

"There is more to Dyerma III than meets the eye, Captain." She purred in response, leaning towards him as much as her seat would allow.

Before he could reply, the shuttle had landed and the exit door had opened. Lars quickly rose from his seat and made his way towards the rear of the craft. Stepping outside, he was surprised to see the PM waiting to meet him.

"Welcome to my island, Captain Persson. I trust that you had a fruitful journey?" Gineryll enquired enthusiastically as he stepped forward to greet Lars. Shaking his hand vigorously, he barely waited for an answer, than he was leading his guest towards the impressive building. "Come, come, we have lots to talk about. None of that official nonsense, you're here to enjoy yourself. Ha, ha, ha..." He said as he began laughing. "I hope that Hulanda has taken good care of you?"

Lars didn't get the chance to reply, since the PM rushed along, almost dragging Lars by the hand. As far as he was concerned, he could only wonder what on earth he had let himself in for?..
