Village Pond
The old village pond, where the visitor
may rest a while, choosing to sit on one of the many seats that
surround its waters and admire some of Hartington's architecture.
Here there is a mixture of fine buildings composed of either pale
limestone, or the much warmer hues of gritstone. As with many
Derbyshire towns and villages, Hartington celebrates their wakes with
Wells Dressing on the village green. This usually occurs on the second
Saturday in September.

Beresford Tea Room
The village offers a touch of community spirit here with the small, but attractive, Beresford Tea Rooms and Post Office.
The architecture of this building displays the use of limestone for its
main walls, while gritstone has been utilized to give the corners some
additional strength and local character.

Hartington Hillside
In this image you can see the road that climbs
away to go towards the tiny hamlet of Heathcote. It is close by, that
the visitor is given the opportunity to gain entry to another of
Derbyshire's beautiful dales, Biggin Dale, a part of which is cared for
by the National Trust.
Not far along this road, the visitor will eventually reach one of the architectural gems of Hartington, now the Youth Hostel.
