Wedding Customs and Superstitions

Today, many of our ancient traditions are taken from far back in the annals of our colourful history. Towns throughout the English countryside, make special efforts celebrate their particular local customs.

In the county of Derbyshire, picturesque towns, such as Buxton, have their Wells Dressing ceremonies which are believed to date back to the pagan worship of water gods.

There are those customs linked to Weddings, along with the superstitions that surround the preparations of this joyous of occasions. What may appear strange to the visitor, remains an integral part of the British way of life.
