Whaley Bridge is also one of many Derbyshire towns that celebrates the highly skilled, and ancient art of 'Wells Dressing' during the summer months. The town's wells are dressed with tableau usually depicting a scene on a historical theme. These pictures are made from laying colourful seeds, flower petals, leaves and berries into a design marked out in a puddled clay base, then mounted in a wooden frame.
