Whaley Bridge is also one of many
Derbyshire towns that celebrates the highly skilled, and ancient art of
'Wells Dressing' during the summer months. The town's wells are dressed
with tableau usually depicting a scene on a historical theme. These
pictures are made from laying colourful seeds, flower petals, leaves
and berries into a design marked out in a puddled clay base, then
mounted in a wooden frame. The photographs here show some of the
decorations for 2006.

There is an interesting array of shops within the town, which sell
everything from General Household Goods to Newspapers and Magazines,
Bicycles to Cars, Sports Equipment and Services, Fruit and Vegetables
to Flowers, Antiques and Collectables.
There are a number of Pubs and Inns around the town too, there to help
the hot and maybe dusty traveller, quench his/her thirst.

Perhaps as a visitor, you may just want
to take things easy, sit somewhere quiet and peaceful, and read a book,
or just watch life pass you by? Well, there are a lot of idyllic places
around the town too numerous to mention here. Hopefully, if you take a
close look at the photographs shown here in the gallery, they may help
you to decide. Enjoy your visit...
