There are lots of other attractions nearby Buxton, apart from the obvious Peak District beauty in the surrounding landscape. Named Pride And Prejudice Country, Buxton is in the heart of the Peak District surrounded by the National Park. Chatsworth house and park is magnificent and very easy to get to and if it stately homes you like then consider Haddon Hall, neglected throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, but lovingly restored and welcoming, allowing visitor to soak up the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. If you like going back in time, then why not grab a tram at Crich Tramway Museum?

For the children and animal lovers, the nearby Chestnut Centre has four species of otters as well as pine martin, dear, fox and Scottish wildcat. Castleton caverns and Peverill Castle are a must for the adventurous amongst you, and the village of Castleton itself is delightful, a place lit up like a Christmas Wonderland during the season of goodwill to all men, and women of course!

Derwent Valley and Dams is a spectacular place to see some of the most wonderful moorland and reservoirs, as well as encountering a whole host of wildlife and wonderful walks. So too is Carsington water, a great place to go if you like water recreational sports. Nearby is Lyme Hall and Park and it's not hard to imagine Mr Darcy emerging from the lake.
