Peak District

Buxton is in the heart of the Peak District and surrounded by the National Park itself. It is within easy reach of a wealth of visitor attractions such as Chatsworth house and Haddon Hall, Castleton Caverns and Derwent Valley dams. Take a trip to Lyme Park and imagine Mr Darcy as he emerges from the lake or take a ride at the National Tramway Museum at Crich for something else to do.

Explore the gorgeous Goyt Valley within easy driving distance from Buxton, a wild place, which encompasses many of the famous features of the Peak District grit. How about strolling through more than 50 acres of unspoiled Derbyshire countryside at the Chestnut Centre and encounter four species of otter, dear, Fox, Scottish wildcat, pine martin and a wealth of wildflowers in the spring?

It's so easy to get lost in the Peak District beauty and Buxton is no exception. Spend a day walking through the hills and Dales or climb hard on the grit stone outcrops. If you fancy a rush of adrenaline and there is a whole host of outdoor play with single tracks on mountain bikes, all within easy reach of Buxton. The Peak District is a playground for all ages and being so close to Buxton means being able to shop till you drop but wander at your leisure through wilderness and beauty.
